The ECD is born...

Atomic Gothic is a story that has occupied my brain since December 2019. It first started out as an art video project inspired by the likes of both Metal Gear Solid and Undertale. I submitted this for a grade unfortunately. You can see me in a variety of costumes, and both Dan and Victor make their first appearance. I kinda can't watch this without cringing a little bit. Despite the spelling errors and strange pacing, this is what kicked off my multi year long project Atomic Gothic.

In the summer of 2020, I spent a lot of time working on the very first iteration of Atomicgothic.com! I taught myself coding through Neocities's HTMLDog tutorials at my parents place in rural Colorado. The internet was poor, and I was taking notes on CSS in a literal notepad on a fold out table in their garage. There was something so pure about it...

Around this time I started to develop what would be the main cast to AG. I was also able to visit Los Alamos as well as a few other Nuclear Destinations in the southwest. I started writing/drawing my comic but lost interest a few years later... (erm it is still on haitus im so sorry). Then, in 2022 I met the amazing Pepsiharlot! We hit it off and shared tons of story ideas, and Atomic Gothic kind of had a mini revival. I would love to work on the comic side of the story again, but we've made so many changes and added different characters, the story would need a complete revamp.

Pepsi and I are currently working on an awesome and totally presentable timeline document that will outline what the hell happens in this story. Right now it's a major WIP.

So what happens...?

Atomic Gothic follows the story of Dan Bombsite, leader of the Experimental Civil Defense (the ECD), in charge of cleaning up America's most top secret - and most radioactive - experiments. This includes intervening on US military developments gone haywire - like Subject Lady Godiva as part of the Human Pit Project. The ECD operates under the Atomic Energy Commission with primary duties to oversee accidents and clean up efforts. The ECD falls under the “Division of Containment”, a fairly small section of the AEC. They receive a monthly stipend for storing and containing certain radioactive objects, like the Atlas-X missile NCAI project.
